Professor Shengshou Hu, born in Wuhan, Hubei Province on Apr. 19th, 1957, is an expert of cardiovascular surgery and academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering. Having graduated from Tongji Medical University with Master’s Degree in 1982, he is Director of National Center for Cardiovascular Diseases, President of Fuwai Hospital, Head of State Key Laboratory of Cardiovascular Disease, Director of National Clinical Research Center for Cardiovascular Disease, Chief Scientist of State 973 Project, winner of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, academic leader of “Innovative Team” of the Ministry of Education, member of American College of Cardiology, member of American Association of Thoracic Surgery and Foreign Academician of Académie Nationale de Médecine; he used to serve as Chairman of Chinese Society for Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery and Rotating Chairman
of ATCSA.
Prof. Shengshou Hu has long been engaged in clinical practices, teaching and scientific researches of cardiovascular surgery, built up serial minimally invasive treatment techniques forCoronaryArterySurgeryand developed the new mode of applying “composite technology” to treat cardiovascular diseases; he established China’s first key lab of Cardiovascular Regenerative Medicine and achieved serial research achievements ranging from regeneration of myocardial cell to heart transplantation and artificial heart development; he also developed Aorta and Pulmonary Artery DRT, thus significantly enhancing China’s influence in the world in treating complex congenital heart disease. He successively assumed research projects like National 973 Project, 863 Project and “Support Program”; he won the second place in National Science and Technology Project Award twice, the first place for three times and the second place for three times in provincial and ministerial science and technology progress awards. As the first author or corresponding author, he had 197 papers published, including 90 indexed by SCI.
